-Ambient Displays

Ambient display is mainly implemented in the general environment rather than on the screen of a desktop computer. Mankoff points out that the general aim for ambient display is to explore a new way of introducing information displays into the everyday environment. Skog further shows that the ambitious goal of ambient display is to present information without distracting or overwhelming users.

-Evaluation

There are few evaluations conducted in ambient displays in comparison to focal displays. On the other hand, evaluation is important in ambient displays. As Mankoff points out “without evaluation, it is difficult to determine which display is better and why it is better. Without this information, it is difficult to improve on the existing work”.
