Colin Ware defines information visualization is “the use of visual representations of abstract
data to amplify cognition”.
The general aim for information visualization is to enable users to receive
the information they need, make sense of it, and reach decisions in a relatively short time.
The main function for information visualization is to map from abstract data to visual form to
make human being easy to be understood. This is because “a good picture is worth ten thousand
words”.
